That 58 looks like it could easily show up in a 63 or 64 holder.

For 98 bucks, I thought it was a bargain at the time, but I later sold it, repurchased it, and sold it a second time.

(Yes, my collecting patterns can be slightly schizophrenic at times, but there is usually some method to my madness.)

After international shipping and fees, I just paid $168.49 USD (€136.50 EUR) for the PCGS MS63 above, which doesn't seem too bad to me, either, for an already-slabbed Mint State coin that's 467 years old. I'm looking forward to that.

Will it be my last "Eclectic Box" newp for 2017?

    Dunno. Maybe not. :)

Probably not. Your box of 20 is very cool. Just keeps getting cooler.

Thank you. Coming from someone who totally outdid me in my old Holey Coin schtick/specialty, I appreciate that. I bow before your holeyness.

BTW- it ain't a Box of 20 anymore. Up to 26 now. Inflation, y'know! Haha ;)

I got an earlier start on the the holed coins. You have a good start on 2 boxes of 40. Your eye for interesting and quality will serve any quantity.

Coin A was the right choice. :)

I liked Coin A because the chicken on the obverse reminded me a lot of my ex-wife.

I think I would be doing us all a favor to buy LordMarcovan a 50 slot slab box for Christmas this year.

    :)

LOL! Maybe I'll go back to the plastic PCGS/NGC boxes and do two 20s. Not sure I'm ready to grow to 50 pieces yet!

I'm late to the party as usual, but I like A better for the strike and B better for the luster. On the B reverse, it looks like someone stepped on that chickens tail. It's crooked.

Those were exactly my thoughts on the matter.

But Coin B was not worth $100-ish more to me just for the extra grade point and the little bit of addtional luster.

I suspect the extra luster might've had something to do with Coin B receiving the MS64 from PCGS.

Bacon>sausage. Though, I do enjoy both!

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Everyone has mentioned the striking differences, but I'm kinda surprised nobody mentioned the biggest difference between A and B:

Coin B has been dipped white and stripped of its patina. Coin A appears to have some skin on it, and is thus more attractive.

I'm not so sure about that, but I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, either. I did wonder about that.

Now you had to post another nice/interesting coin didn't you? :) I had to get one after your post! I have this raw one coming from Latvia. foriegn medieval.jpg foriegn medieval rev.jpg

    Excellent!

These are great coins, and offer lots of affordable "bang for the buck".

Congrats! You got a very handsome example, there. Looks very well-struck.

Mine is coming from Poland, and I just received notice that FedEx should be delivering it in a few hours (Wednesday morning). If I remember correctly, I only paid $8.00 shipping, so getting fast FedEx shipping from Poland for that price seems impressive to me. I've had this happen a few times with other shipments from Europe. I remember one coin I bought from a dealer in Scandinavia arrived in something like 36 hours, to my happy astonishment.

Thanks for the image help as always, @Deacon Ray.

The coin is in hand now, and has subtle but appealing luster not seen in these images. I might try to get alternate images later.
