    I think the coin is a decent AU, but there is something about the color - - - - -. There is not evidence of whizzing or polishing, but it just does not have the luster for this color. Having said that, the entire coin appears to be improperly mixed alloy (woodgrain effect). The closest picture to the correct color is the darker observe. Although it is pretty close in color, cameras, at least in my hand, just don’t quite capture the true color.

    I paid $71 for it shipping included. Should I keep it or return it (I loose $5 for shipping plus my costs).

    WOW, Hate to say it, but that has to go back. Lose the 5$ rather than $65.

    I don't normally say this, but, OUCH

    Looks like something was done to it IMO. The color on both sides don't seem to match up, and I don't really like those scuff marks by the nose and face, and below Liberty. I'm not real sure though. Seems like you got an okay deal, but I feel uneasy on this one for some reason.

    The color differences are picture related. The observe is a little darker than the reverse but only where the finger prints are. Both background colors are real close if not identical.

    I give it a VF, just because the strike is so weak, typical for the issue. Even a full XF bids $27. Just looks too weak for me. Are those pics taken thru the flip?

    It's been dipped in a commercial coin dip and then dipped in acetone by the look of it.

    How do you know it was dipped in acetone. I thought acetone wasn't detectable?

    To a certain extent, and if done correctly. All types of cleaning and such can leave signs and everything behind if done incorrectly, and I think GD hit on the head what was troubling me about this coin. I am sorry RLM, but I just get bad feelings from this coin, only my opinion. But if you like the coin and everything, then I would say keep it.

    After emailing with Rlm, my sincere apologies for jumping to conclusions. Difficult to photograph thru flips and the old woodgrain Lincolns. I should have known better, Rlm is a sharp guy, the bad judgement was mine.

    Dipping copper coins in acetone often gives the coin a pinkish cast.

    BTW; Yes, they were taken through a flip. No return if I remove it.

    I emailed the seller explaining what had been said about the coin and this is my response;

    There are some honest dealers out there!

    I got this email today:

    When I checked, his "another separate payment" was $20!! His account does not have a confirmed address, so I denied it and asked if he made a typo and said that it was too much. Hie response was:

    This man deserves something for his honesty, so I will give him what I can here. 618evan

    It is refreshing to see an honest ebay seller that goes over and above what is necessary to complete a transaction.
