Hey Everyone! Finally have a day to sit and go through some of these coins and came across several of these tiny California gold coins. After looking closer they appear to be charms. I can't find them in my red book and google just keeps taking me to ebay and auctions but I'd like to know what they actually are. If anyone has any info I'd be grateful! Also I swore to myself I wouldn't post any more pics until I could master it but that clearly has not happened, working on getting a usb camera, and since I just want general info here they are;)

    Hi, @Traci !

Save them! When you get enough, they would make great buttons.

That's a great website, thank you! So I'm guessing that since they are just "charms" they are not really worth anything other than a keepsake? Do ya'll think they were made recently or is there a way to tell if they are even real gold?

They've been around for a long time. I used to have one that I found about 40 years ago. No, they're not real gold!

Looks like you may have one of each type on the market. None are genuine CA Fractional gold pieces so they will not be on the link. The "charm" is marked. The top piece may be one of the "better" 20th Century tokens. The center piece is a replica.

Numbers one and three are definitely gold. The 'Minerva' in the middle, may very well be gold, but it's tough to tell from your photo. I would say 'yes, gold' but I've had them both ways.

Thanks for the link to your store! I think it will help me identify some of the odd stuff I have. Probably a dumb question but how does one tell if something is gold or not? Take it to one of those buy gold places?
