Picked this up and the only thing written on the 2x2 was "roman coin". Been searching online for some time with no luck. Any help would be appreciated!
The reverse (left photo) shows a falling horseman type with the inscription FEL TEMP REPARATIO. It's from the mid fourth century. Unclear which emperor. The design was used for many decades. Here, for example, is one of Constantius Gallus:
edit: too slow Constantius II FEL TEMP REPARATIO Falling horseman type. Maybe Alexandria? Similar to these, but smaller.
I think I see the vestiges of a diadem, making it Constantius II. The mint looks like ANAI, for Antioch, with a mint date between A.D. 355-361.
Constantius II does resemble it as well. I guess it's a toss up between the two. Wish it was in a bit better quality but that's how it goes. At least I know the general time frame of this coin. Thanks to all who helped!
It's not a toss up. Constantius Gallus was executed in 354 A.D. If there is a diadem, which I think there is, then it is Constantius II (http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/constantius_II/_antioch_RIC_viii_187A.jpg). If there is no diadem, then it is Julian II (http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/julian_II/_antioch_RIC_189.jpg). It may or may not have an "M" in the reverse field, to the left of the stabbing soldier, which would determine the exact RIC catalog number, but it's still either Constantius II or Julian II.
