What do you predict will be great coins to collect now for 50 years in the future?

Indeed. Look at the 1950-D nickel or the 1970-D half; both spiked to high prices, then fell way back. Heck, look at 1999 silver proof sets, which spiked up over $400 in the decade after they were released. They've been falling steadily, and I see now that they're routinely going for less than $70 on eBay.

Early coinage, particularly Bust Dollars, have always been red hot I think.

Don't assume that US coins are the things to collect. For all we know in 50 years the US may be just another banana republic and there will be another number one in the world. Try to figure out what that country is and collect it older coins.

Bananas don't grow that well here.

Online really isn't that bad. Avoid sellers from Asia, raw coins, and things that seem to good to be true and 99 percent of the problems you might encounter are eliminated

Unless, if course, you are not in the US. Elsewhere they are not as enamored of slabs coins as US collectors are.

Some markets are and it's growing, but yes if you're in Eastern Europe you probably don't have many graded options available

Seems you too. Which limited resource export exactly is the US economy dependent upon again?

Oh you never know...fads from yesteryear become popular collectibles. I'll bet some people pay big money for unopened Pet Rocks.

I think it was humor...BTW, I heard the only place in the continental USA that grew bananas as a cash crop was in LaConchita CA...I actually bought bananas there.

Fun question. I, as many others do, predict that 1-cent US coins will no longer be in circulation, and today's classics will always be in style. You can't go wrong with the 1955 doubled date Wheat cent in 2055. :)

It was a tongue in cheek remark. I hardly think the US will ever become a banana republic.
