I was thinking of bidding on this coin but I'm not sure what the mark is on the obverse right above Libertys head. Does anyone have any ideas?
Kind of hard to tell. I have a 1884S that was holed and filled with maybe something which could be lead. Could this 1882cc be previously holed and now filled?
Thanks Victor, if thats the case with this one then its definitely not worth bidding on. Its currently up to $71 dollars.
But man it's a CC! I picked up a worn out 1978CC for $75.00 recently. Maybe grades VG. No major problems though.
I would wait for a better one. There are plenty of nice 82-CC Morgans available. Uncirculated ones can be bought for under $200.
you can get a real good deal on a nice GSA issue that is one of the years that were found in the vaults. I have been looking at some 1881-CC of late
I got a nice GSA 1883 off ebay for about $190 with nice box and papers. With the note from Richard Nixon even! Sold it for $205. This one had no face or cheek marks.
My 82, 83 and 84 GSA CC all together cost me around $325-340......keep seaching for a better lookign sample
I think I'll take your advice. My wife always fusses me anyway when I buy a coin thats worn alot. I always tell her that circulation gives a coin character and a mysterious history behind it not knowing where it might have been through its life. So, I've made the decision to buy all of my CC Morgans in mint state....:thumb:.
Wish I could get any MS CC for 80.00 not just GSA My best Morgan is a 1899-P PCGS MS-66 very rare in that condition
