That AV Fiorini di Camera that I posted tells a rather intriguing story. It had three previous auction data labels/paper envelopes with original auction records from 1936/1968/2017

In 1936 it sold at a Berlin auction for 36 ReichsMark=$9US

1968 Munzen and Medallian Auction/Switzerland it sold for 700 Swiss Frcs (do not know exact exchange rate with US Dollar in 68
Recently, in a Heritage Platinum Night Auction, a similar piece fetched $6700US
I got mine for 4500 Swiss Frcs.....

It would be sad if things keep on like that, choice coins would only be the realm of the wealthy:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Coins probably are not. Special coins probably are because the competition is getting stiffer.

You already have one of the finest collections of anyone I've ever met! I bet a few of your coins would have already appreciated greatly since you bought them.

Me... well I might be in trouble though ;)

Edit to add: Sweet provinance btw!

    its a little of both..$9.00 in '36 is $157.00 now (2017) and $160.00 in '68 =$1,139.00 .. a buck ain't what it used to be...but ancients are!...

I think there's a lot of variance, and it's hard to get an overall picture. Generally collectibles are doing quite well, which isn't surprising given the huge global increase in people with the means to collect. But the gains are in certain areas, particularly at the upper end of the market.
