Those are the best finds. Think about how excited you are when your digging them up. We're that excited to see your finds toooooo
I'm a metal detectorist myself - I envy your location and the possibility of finding some truly historic coins and artifacts - here in the 'States', the buried treasures are much more recent and commonplace <(green w/ envy)
Welcome! I once had the pleasure of making it over to your side of the pond for some detecting. That was something that had been on my "bucket list" for decades, and it finally happened in 2013. My finds weren't terribly impressive for someone who spent a week in English farm fields, but they weren't bad, either, and I had a very memorable experience. I only wish I had been in the company of some locals instead of a bunch of other Americans.
Thanks. I hope I can keep going. My knees are getting bad and I am in really poor physical shape for detecting nowadays. I'm lucky if I get out two or three times a year. Partly that's my fault, though. I'm mostly dormant nowadays, but I still own three detectors (and one of them even works - haha!) Maybe I'll have to go out and put the coil to the soil again now that it's nice and cool outside.
Welcome to Coin Talk. I read several articles about "hoards" being found in England that have to be reported to some agency. I'm just curious if finding a small number of Ancient coins also has to be reported.
