Just wondering, any token collectors here? I collect and I have amassed quite a collection, of course none of mine are worth this much. At least, I don't think I have one that's worth this much. To be honest with you, I don't know if this one is worth the asking price. That's part of the novelty of going on ebay in the first place. Sometimes, you see sellers asking for a ridiculous amount of money for something that's only worth $50 to $100. I'm not just talking about tokens here, signs, guitars, jewelry, you name it! Is it worth the asking price, idk. But I read the description and it has an interesting backstory. Would I pay the asking price? No, but not because I don't think it's worth it, it's just not worth it to me. The seller has a bunch of high end tokens for sale! About this great looking horse token, nice but no cigar! https://www.ebay.com/itm/FABULOUS-H...136078?hash=item361f8667ce:g:wOMAAOSw8IJZi9kF
Very good to keep your distance. Not a collector of these also, and at that price, I'd shy away also. Inexperienced and uneducated sods like us need to step aside, until someone who is expert on this type of item chimes in.
You got that right green18! I'm surprised that seller stays afloat at all the high end stuff he sells. Take a look at this fake, a confused Daniel Carr wannabe. lol https://www.ebay.com/itm/George-Was...d=253250690124&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
It is a nice looking token. Tokens can realize big prices. The only dealer I know who routinely realizes strong prices is Steve Hayden. He does frequently auction rare and desirable tokens.
This seller is a man that I have known for many years and consider a friend. Among the token collectors that I know he is far and above the best historical researcher and also a fine author. As regards Billy the Kid I would rank him in the top two experts and he is the discoverer of some of the primary documents in the Billy the Kid lore. His primary writings are on western history. His pricing is accurate for auction results and since he does not need the money he is not likely to lower his prices. Anything he is selling can be had for anything he wants in trade but what you offer had best be very rare and preferably Texas.
Dang it, I am going to have to stop reading these posts. Now you have gotten me interested in tokens. Now, all I have to decide is which ones. Are their many wildlife tokens like bears, deer, eagles etc. Maybe even fish. I think I will do a little searching on ebay.
Sorry this thread is over a year old you're better off creating a new post and including photos of your token.
