I Have a 1983 P quarter that is missing part of the word United. The (Unit) is missing. Also it appears to be a little thicker then the other quarter I have. Has anyone seen anything like it and if so is it worth anything? 20171108_123139.jpg 20171028_103342.jpg 20171109_005540.jpg

This is what occurs when the Die used to strike the Blank Quarter planchet is full of debris or grease in the incused areas. When the blank is struck it won't allow letters or numerals to be properly formed.

We have seen hundreds of these. You do have a great example but I don't think there is a huge premium for your find.

Also.. The edges of both the Quarters you have shown are just worn down.

Or, perhaps the "Ed States of America" is a country we've never previously heard of. On the other hand, "Ed" might have mounted a coup last night and had all the U.S. coinage counterstamped to promote his new regime. Just thinkin'.

There was no coup. They just forgot to put the word "special" before "ed"
