Things boring here? Not that I've seen yet. More to the point, let him who is without grift, graft or grease cast the first aspersion!

But thankfully, Elvis, Hoffa and Houdini are still walking around.

Maybe CT is getting boring if this is what passes for a witty and clever comeback. Where are the good trolls when you need them? Ed Wood? Paging Ed Wood.

My guess is that you've precious little experience with the unnecessary, and often appalling mistakes "new collectors" sometimes make.

Your interpretation of Tommy's post couldn't be more wrong.

Have you considered that, perhaps, the entire point for some of said "ethics police" is to hopefully steer others away from making the same mistakes? If not, it's certainly worth thinking about.

There's an old saying along the lines of "a good reputation is hard to earn, but very easy to lose". While true in most any field, it is particularly so when it comes to coins, or at least was when face-to-face transactions were the norm. The fact is that often much more can be made from a long-term customer than from a quick or easy rip. If compared to a customer with an established regular relationship, well, there really is no comparison and is something a regrettable number of younger guys seem to either not realize, or are too eager for the now to work towards.

Of course eBay has changed much; burning someone is easier when not having to look them in the eye.

This post could not have gone more awry. It was some simple cautionary advice, nothing more. There was never a wink, wink, nod, nod to buying these as was posted earlier. I simply meant, if this is what you want to collect, fine. But know what you are buying beforehand. Sheesh.

He had a good point as the internet is the only place where people with ethics beyond reproach exist. Yes there can be a good point out of it, but it almost always ends up going over the top

I made a bad assumption, and then you came back with one equally fallacious, so let's just call it a draw and retire to the croquet court.

If you take yourself so seriously, there's always the possibility no one else will.

I was being more than a tad cynical when I reacted to your post, and I apologize for that.

"Equally fallacious", huh? Do remember another old saying that addresses what happens when we assume.

The same goes for an inner desperation to be the center of everyone's attention, but let's no go there...

Agreed wholeheartedly. However, I didn't intend to dispute his point, but only to offer another way of interpreting it in certain instances.

@Lemme Caution, please do everyone a favor and try to combine your posted into a single post. It gets annoying when half the posts on a page are your one-line posts. You've been a member for 3 weeks and made almost 1000 posts. 90% of them say nothing. I am on the verge of blocking you so that I can speed up my reading of the important posts on these forums.

Under my skin? Umm, no. I simply find it comical that the guy who, due to his insistence on ridiculously excessive posting, has the gall to concern himself with others being taken seriously.

You seem like a decent fellow, but ever since I stumbled across a thread in which an entire page was you and all you, short one other post, I've found you generally unreadable. Take as you will.
