I said i would post this when i got it and "poof".. here it is.. But i'm not sure how to list it( I think the reverse deity is holding something in her right hand,but..) so i'll let the members be the givers of provenance.. feel free to comment and post yours also
Is that not Juno with a peacock at her feet? An As if I recall correctly Edited to add This is a sestertius of Faustina II with alsmost the same reverse as yours, the difference that I see is the scepter. Juno standing left, holding patera and peacock at feet. S in left and C in right fields Rome 31mm, 23.8g 145-175 AD RIC III 121 SEAR 5276 if this helps you any.
That weight indicates it's an as or dupondius. That's not a peacock at her feet; that the S in S-C. The reverse deity is Vesta holding palladium and long torch. RIC 1178; BMCRE 1581; Cohen 114, RCV 4648.
i looked and looked at this coin and forgot that was a S and was looking at one's with items other than what it is there too Smojo..
..it's possible, but seems to be the right arm is at a different angle on those types and the C is way out from the body on this one.
The only Faustina I coin I have is a well worn As the seller had as dupondius also, but research found it to be as As. Which until I started to become such an avid ancients collector I always thought were the same thing. DIVA FAVTINA 25mm, 11.3g, Rome 141 AD AVGVSTA Concordia seated left, holding statuette of Spec and scepter SC in exergue RIC 1184 Cohen 121
very nice F 1 ! still a lot of detail plus that dark color it to die for!. I've found that calling these of these weights and materials a matter of some relativity really afa dupondius or As...
Here's my F1! Faustina I Posthumous AE Sestertius, after 141 AD O: DIVA-FAVSTINA, Draped bust right; R: AETER-NITAS, Aeternitas holding phoenix on globe, SC flanking. RIC 1105, 32 mm, 22.1 g
