That seems to be the inevitable conclusion that the helter-skelter pin ball of opinion, after much collective bouncing and recoiling, has at long last landed upon.
post 31..........services? is this a coin term I don't know? Edit....Ah ha perhaps surfaces was meant?
I see most call it toning speckels, but several areas appear to be past toning and into corrosion. I would vote for unattractive, sorry.
Is it worth paying for the grading fees? With what you paid, and adding PCGS's fees, you will probably come out on the short end of the stick.
Yes the spell check on the new Samsung is quite a treat you type in what you want hit post and it changes, thinking you mean something else. I've removed it from my business pad....way to many errors on e mails, etc.
Wow, can I ever relate to that. I quite often am forced to override my spellcheck since it seems hell bent on even declaring words non-existent that Webster's tells me are perfectly correct and legitimate.
I never had any issues with it or grammar on early phones and tablets. My new phone and tab are always changing content or spellings that need not be. Adding words or leaving out words. Not happy also with key board lay out mostly the "n"&"m" . Not showing up in a word finding a , or . Rather than the letters when typing. Most of the time I proof read especially for work, how my late evening I'm to tired to worrie. Now work documents are a different story but even proof read I noticed after hitting send they can still change content.
These are but some of confounding difficulties and/or problems one encounters among the ever-evolving wonders(?) of cutting-edge, ultra-modern electronic communications technology. While most old sayings can indeed be considered trite, they are for the most part also true, and in this instance "Sometimes you just have to take the bad with the good" specifically comes to mind. Best of luck with your various, assorted and sundry "machines", and whatever you do, try not to end up being another "Tron"!
From what I've seen as far as listed, certified comps... yes. Being into it for still well under $100 would still be worth it.
Maybe, but I'm not so sure. Some observations: the coin appears to have a good deal of underlying luster; a good bit of the toning is already at or near the terminal stage. The coin also exhibits a degree of finning which means it was struck under higher than normal pressure so if you could actually see I believe it would have a very good quality of strike. And the coin does not appear to have excessive contact marks. Lastly the cost, a minimal outlay to risk, but if the above assumptions are correct - much to gain. In my opinion, these things make this coin a good candidate for dipping. But more than that, given the stage of the toning, it needs to be dipped just to protect the coin. The cons, well, there is always something to be said in favor of originality. And yes it is possible, even if unlikely, that this coin has not been dipped before, and I have no doubt that more than a few would consider it as such. And then there's the risk - there is always a risk with dipping any coin. However, in this case I believe the pros for dipping outweigh the cons considerably. If left alone it is a given that the coin will be irreparably damaged. And make no mistake, those who highly favor originality will also know that thus making it an unlikely candidate for purchase. But, that's me, other opinions may vary
I find the eye appeal on the OP to be neutral. It's not a look I would seek out, and i don't especially love it, but I certainly don't hate it, either. I think submitting it undipped was the right choice. A conservation attempt would be too risky, I think. Then again, @GDJMSP made some good points in the previous post. There is someone out there who will like it for its originality.
I'd leave it as is and see what pcgs thinks. FWIW, I believe it has been dipped before and some of the black stuff didnt' come off, then retoned in an album.
Congrats, @C-B-D! Well done! I just got an MS62 from PCGS as well, on a coin which I had solicited opinions on here.
I was in the I like it but don’t love it category. It’s better than dipped white but not nessicarily attractive. I’d have done the same. But it would have probably come back au 55 the way they’ve been on seated stuff lately
