I'm somewhat new to coin collecting, but I inherited some older coins from my grandparents years ago (they actually belonged to my Great Grandmother). They include a few gold pieces and some other 19th century coins, some are in better shape than others. I'm interested in getting an idea of the value of my collection, I've used a coin book in the past, but without having a good idea of the grade of the coins, the value changes wildly. I was hoping someone could recommend a good coin dealer in SE Michigan that could give me a good idea of the value of my collection (or at least a few of the better coins). Perhaps I would even submit a few to be formally graded... Thanks, --Paul
Paul: Welcome to the forum, and if you want, you could post some pictures for opinions. Or someone will be along soon to help you out.
Hello Paul, I too am in SE Michigan, Not a dealer however. There are a few that I can recommend if you narrow the area down a bit. I have been collecting for over 40 years.
West side of Detroit or Ann Arbor would be the most convenient as I live just west of the airport, but would be willing to drive north or east if there was a good reason to go... --Paul
Sunday Nov. 11th, Redford Township Coin Show - VFW Hall - 27345 Schoolcraft Road (I-96 & Inkster Rd.) - Redford MI - 9am-4pm. Ask for Jessie Siebert, Don Reid or Dan Moore. All three are fair. There is a large dealer if you feel like driving to Birmingham that I use, Abbotts, they are on Woodward at 14 Mile Road. Hope this helps.
