Anyone heard (or seen) the rare Canadian 2000 "P" dime or quarters?

I was able to track down a dime about a year ago but have yet to see a quarter listed anywhere. The dimes appear to be a test mintage of less than 200. They now list in the $1000-$3000 range.

I know less than half a dozen quarters have been certified and are commanding quite a premium in the $5K-10K range.

You won't find them in circulation.

Apparently plated coins were issued to vending machine manufacturers in 1999 in large quantities.

They were issued to calibrate their machines to plated coins to be introduced in a few years time.

In 2000, some additional coins were (apparently) minted and quickly retired.

Some managed to get into the hands of dealers. Within a few months they hit about $100 on eBay until the mint released information relating to how rare they actually are. At that point, they keep climbing. I picked one up less than a year ago for $650. There's a MS64 one being sold online for $1500. The book value is about $2000.

The quarters are still questioned. Depending on who you talk to, it appears they were either minted illegally or accidentally. The mint does not acknowledge their existence yet they have appeared at auction.
