My coin collecting adventure so far...

As I said in a different thread, my coin collecting adventure started with a big water jug with a load of pennies in it that had been accumulating over the course of a couple of years.. This saturday will make it 3 weeks that I've been scouring through this bunch of pennies..

After all was said and done I had seperated all the pennies into plastic containers. Each container weighed roughly 4 pounds and I ended up with 9 of them, which works out to 18,143 grams, divided by 2.7g per penny.(Mix of copper and zinc, but weighed towards a greater volume of zinc pennies.) None of this is exact, of course, but after doing all the 'fuzzy' math, I've looked through roughly 67 dollars worth of pennies.

I've probably missed some good finds here and there due to my inexperience and lack of knowledge.. But in the end I neded up with 2 pennies that I know for certain have worth beyond face value: a 1998 wide AM and a 1982 with the reverse rotated ~30 degrees to the right.

I also ended up with like 15 more that I just thought looked neat/interesting. I also ended up with 8 Canadian pennies, 1 Canadian nickel, and 1 Canadian quarter.

After three weeks of looking through American pennies I can most assuredly say that I'm hooked. It's been a little frustrating, a lot relaxing, but overall I've had fun and I'm glad I decided to take up this hobby. :D

Would like to see what you found. I've searched close to $15k worth of cents alone and have yet to find a good rotated die.

Sorry for the glare in the pictures. I've only got some cheap vinyl flips at the moment. Also note that I aligned the little strip of paper vertically along a gridmark in the pictures.

    The 1982 rotated reverse:
