Yes, I'm sure paddy has good reasoning to do this, I guess I didn't realize you were trading that in a sense.

    Thanks,

Thank you for seconding my sentiment as yet another voice in the apparent wilderness; nice to have you along.

Oops, I guess that means I'm (un)officially back to occupying my original position as the sole dissenter in this regard. I'm old enough in experience to know when I can't win but young enough in spirit to be reluctant to say uncle. Ce'st la vie.

Entry post: I am thankful for my now 10-month-old son. It's such a blessing to watch him grow and learn new things all the time, and I know it will continue to get more fun. I'm also thankful for all the natural wonders in the world, whether landscapes, animals, insects, birds, etc. When you stop to actually appreciate it, it really is amazing.

Initial entry. Good job once again, @lordmarcovan! I personally liked the original Hitler and Stalin coins. I guess you can't please all the people all the time. Perhaps Chairman Mao would be OK, since he is credited as being the greatest mass murderer in history. I never hear anyone complain (yet) about Nero or any other other Roman honchos who fed lions to the Christians, or was it the other way around? Speaking of cats, I am thankful for having the privilege of rescuing all my (our) 7 cats from a life of hunger, homelessness and danger. The latest addition, little JR, was found in the back of my pickup with an apparently mangled back leg. He now scampers around with 4 wheel drive, no problem. That is to say, his leg healed up on its own and he can walk just fine. JR-1.jpg JR-3.jpg

Wow :D thats a great lot of coins! That's amazing, that would fill in some spots in my upcoming type album! And build my world collection. Ooohhhhh barber dimes, halves, and war nickles and is that a Large cent!. That would so pimp my type set.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

I think the problem a lot of people have with the original prize "coins" is that they are not coins at all - they appear to be medals made to honor these people. I don't have a problem at all with owning Nazi coins or coins with Stalin on them because they are historic and I think it's kind of neat from a historical perspective. But these aren't coins. The Hitler one I believe says "one people, one reich, one leader," which is clearly in praise of Hitler. That's why I wouldn't want to own it. It's a modern creation that probably appeals to Neo-Nazis.

Well I am thankful for so many things it was hard to decide. Until I read this. Now I realize I am very thankful that the majority of people on this forum are not shortsighted enough to want to bury history and sweep it under the carpet. Coin collectors should be embracing the whole world - the good and the bad parts of it.

They say you can fool some of the people all the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all the time. Yes you can.

Exactly. As modern pieces, they have no historic value, which original WW2-era pieces might arguably have had. They are therefore in slightly questionable taste. Which is why I thought I'd give them away rather than sell them, but they're off the table now and I have put up a different Prize A, and it's up to @Paddy54 what to do with them. I have not thrown them in the river as I offered to do, nor done anything with the (deleted) medals just yet - that's up to Paddy. I think everyone will agree that the "coinucopia" he has added as Prize C might just be the sweetest of the three offerings this month.

So let's not discuss the controversial medals any more, please, and all have fun. I have edited my previous discussions of them and encourage the rest of you to do the same if you can, but it doesn't really matter.

Onward and forward. Let us give thanks.

Here you go! Still not optimal, but a little better.

I have updated Post #2 to include these and @Paddy54's Prize C addition.
