  1. I got this beautiful 1962d lincoln in a coin roll today. It made it worth the nasty attitude from the teller.

It's strange to me why people post pictures that are unrecognizable.

You can't see that it is clearly a cent? ;)

It is recognizable, but out of focus.

Seriously though, I understand what you mean, but I would also bet that if we offered to help the OP improve her skills, chances are it would be more appreciated than the alternative.

    Cecilia,

Neat find, but it's usually best to simply ignore those with said attitude instead of letting it get to you. Also, if you'd like to improve your photo skills, there are plenty of past threads you may find helpful, or simply ask. Surely many would be more than happy to help. :)

Please, don't hold your tongue; I can take it. ;)

61-D and 60-D? Still somewhat out of focus, but certainly recognizable. There are lots of different "tricks" one can use to produce clear photos, but not everyone is used to imaging such small things or knows of them, so if ever interested, feel free to ask.

Pretty nonetheless . . . and with no buyer's premium.

Tough crowd. Don't let 'em beat you up. If they're so hot, why don't they all post a selfie?

Since when does a single fairly innocuous comment made by one person count as a "tough crowd"?

Reading comprehension is a virtue, sir.

This place IS a tough crowd. Rarely does a post by a beginner get away without a snide comment from at least one more experienced collector. We should help the younger collectors as much as possible. We were all young and made a lot of mistakes. Lots of kids have thin skins, or at least a lot of smart ones do. Have a heart. We've had this conversation before though, so, fugeddaboudit...

@Cecelia Valverde focus is a problem for cameras that think they know better than us. Put the coins on something that has typeprint such as a printed page. The camera can easily focus on the type and that gets very close to the coin surface. If you want to get fancy-schmancy, have the type off to the side and then crop the photo to remove it using photo editing software, like PhotoScape.

No! No! No! Please don't do that. You have no idea how many people have handled that coin before you found it.

Yes, we have, and you've displayed the same rank ignorance you have here. Nothing said to the OP, short the first comment (itself rather tame) was anything short of friendly and lighthearted but respectful, yet here you are preaching as if the exact opposite was true, and only after again feeling the need to dole out another blanket smear literally dripping in your usual deflective and hypocritical nonsense.

Perhaps, instead of playing the hero dictating what others should do, you should finally try leading by example.

  15. I will definitely try this, thank you for the help.
When I get a good picture maybe someone can tell me the grade if possible.

Know that grading (in its finer points) is difficult even with excellent photos.

Gonna have to get a 'macro' lens to get the details and eliminate the foggy out of focus issues.
