Hey, does anyone know what the Cheerios Pattern Sac Dollars in the original packaging with the cent are bringing on the retail market? The only Dollar I saw from searching ebay was a PCGS 66 that sold for 10k. Thanks in advance.
Could be wrong on this, but I think the cent and the dollar were packaged separately in cellophane - much like a coin flip but sealed. I seem to recall seeing a cent once in the original cellophane, never even heard of a dollar still in one.

As I said, could easy be wrong. Although I am quite familiar with that site I never searched for the pic. And knowing the owner of that site, I suspect his pic is the real deal. Could swear I have seen a cent packaged by itself though. Coulda been a fake I suppose. Either way, I would be highly skeptical of any "original packaging" since it is so easy to make your own.
I think the cents were packaged by themselves, as most of the cereal boxes only had the cents in them. But, the random boxes that had a dollar in them had that combined packaging. I just don't know what those pattern Sac Dollars are worth outside of a TPG holder.
To be honest there have been so few of them sold neither do I. I can recall when the news first came out that some sold for $500 - $600, then some sold for over $1,000. Beyond that I can't say. Don't know that I would want to buy a raw one though, too easy to fake them.
First of all there is no good reason to try to sell a raw Cheerios Sac, it is just to easy to fake the packaging and too valuable a variety to risk not buying certified. The cents were packaged singly and inserted into thousands of boxes. the lucky owners of the dollars found them packaged together in the blister pack with the dollar and the cent both obverse out one above the other, as in the linked site's pic. That PC66 coin was a coin we auctioned that came to us in the original packaging from a consignor of mine, so I know these things from first hand contact with the coin. If someone offered me one in the original packaging I would do everything in my power to convince them to consign it to auction because I would not want to purchase it uncertified. so an auction would be by far the best way to realize top value for such a coin (and by auction I do NOT mean eBay, I mean a legitimate auction house).
by the way I think that they should sell for $2500-$5000. The 10k coin was just the first auction by a legitimate auction firm and it sold for too much as a result, but what do I know, maybe they really are worth 10 k each.

I searched back thru the old posts and found threads on 4 different Cheerios dollars sold on eBay in Aug-Sept of 2005. $2500 $5900 $3850 $4000 Quite a range.
I have spoken to a couple people who indicated that they could authenticate a Cheerios Dollar from the obverse only who said they would pay in the 5-6k+ range for a raw one in person, but I wouldn't risk my money on an eBay one raw.
