I only have two provincial of Antoninus Pius, the first a Drachm from Alexandria depicting the Pharos lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. And the second from Ephesus also depicting another wonder of the ancient world the Temple of Artemis with two other temples both sides of it, both large coins at 36mm. 1000-30-106.jpg 3qSKZC2a7Jm8sn4P6Eyp9c9B55CbfA.jpg

This Alexandrian obol is a bit unusual having the tapered edges of the cast-in-cup flan on the reverse rather than the usual obverse. I have seen this on other obols but it is not usual.

From Zeugma, this AE18 shows a die clash reverse upper left. The reverse is the standard Zeugma temple with grove of trees in a fenced courtyard.

Both nice coins, I especially like the Zeugma temple, great patina. I am on the lookout for one myself are they all only 18-23mm and reasonably heavy for their diameter or is there another larger flan?

I haven't been keeping up with this thread and has been my loss. Flipping through it there's some great coins that I need to take the time to go back and really look at them.
I have been putting in some hours at work lately.

Forgive me but since I got this from JA, I think a couple months back I've yet to share it, so stepping back a page to Trajan.

I bought this one because I thought the youthful portrait of MA on it was very nicely done.

Marcus Aurelius - Philippopolis.jpg MARCUS AURELIUS

Here is a sestertius-size Antoninus Pius at Hadrianopolis, Thrace.
    AntoninusPiusHadrianopolis.jpg
34-32 mm. Tyche seated left on rocks, holding rudder. River god swimming at feet left.
ΑΔΡΙΑWΝ ΝΑ-Ι-ΓΕΑΙWΝ [I think]. In ex: possibly EAP
I have not found an academic reference for it. There are several cities with names beginning like "Hadrian..." and RPC on-line gives one looking somewhat like this reverse, but from Treb Gallus (much later) from
"Hadrianopolis Province: Asia: Conventus of Philomelium"

Head has the city Hadrianoplois in Trace with a river-god, but BMC does not list one until Septimius Severus. If anyone finds a reference for it, let me know.
