i have to submit a coin to NCs for conservation and i am new to this. can someone pleas ehelp me figure it out. i have also attached a pic of the coin ia m trying to conserve. the coin costs about 1000-1500 and is rare and if anyone can advise me what that blue stuff is. i would also appreciate that. thanks.
Yes NGC slabs world coins. As for how to go about it, just visit the NCS web site and follow directions.
Is that gold? It shouldn't tone so that has to be something spilled on it. Just join the forum at NGC and ask them, they are very responsive to customers.
You need to be an NCS dealer, an ANA member, or a Collectors Society member to submit to NCS. If you're none of those, feel free to send me a PM. I'm an NCS dealer. Cost are 1% (evaluation) and 3% (conservation), with a minimum of $5 and $15 respectively. The blue looks like some sort of adhesive. Have you tried soaking it in pure acetone?
depends who you ask. I am with the group who belives any cleaning is bad. even acetone that might leave little or no trace.
its a mohur from the moghul emperor shahjahan from the surat mint minted between 1627 and 1657 it is also the only coin from the series without a date and the km number is 255.6
Thanks, spock1k. Given the soft nature of gold, and the age of the piece, it is amazing shape. (Maybe a treasury coin?) Congratulations on such a fine aquisition! Mike
Yes, I believe that sending it to NCS will probably do it some good. If you want to submit it yourself, join the ANA and get a submitting number from them. It's cheaper and you get all of the ANA benefits too.
Pure acetone will not harm the coin. Don't use acetone nail polish remover as that usually has fragrance or oils mixed in it.
thanks buti dont wantto rishka rare coin with my butterfingers i ll probably drop it cause of the stress i will use my ANA membership as you suggested and submit to NCS i am waiting for them to send me a submitter number
