Folder Hole Slightly Bigger Than Coin... Help!

My Warman's folder is wonderful except that one hole (Kennedy half) is slightly bigger than the coin itself which causes it to fall out. I've tried installing cut pieces of plastic currency holder strips/wedges (as someone suggested) around the perimeter but it's frustrating to install and doesn't appear to be a long term fix... :(

I hesitate to use double sided tape but I'm open to the idea (as a last resort) since the coin folder is filled with circulated coins and not proofs. (Will the tape residue cause damage or ugly stains to the folder, long term?)

    Any better proven suggestions??

p.s. The folder was discontinued years ago so returning/exchanging it is not an option... besides, other identical folders have the same issue. I'm also very happy on how this particular edition displays and describes the various coins, so I'm doing what I can to fix this issue and keep the folder.

It sounds like you're up the creek without a paddle.

Maybe the coin itself is smaller than normal. Does it it show a reeded edge? Try sticking it in another hole.

Yes, it's reeded... I've also tried other Kennedy coins (circulated and proofs) and they all fall out when inverted.

How well does this work? Have you tried this?

I wonder if it'll leave an oil stain on the folder over time...

    Try some string.

Off the top of my head, wet some tissue paper, line the cutout hole with it and let it dry, insert coin.

I would use a sliver of acid free cardboard or paper (probably from another coin folder, possibly just from the edge of a page from the one in question). Use a razor blade or exacto knife to cut off a strip intentionally larger than needed. Then cut it to size so it wraps around the entire outside circumference of the whole. Check to see how close the coin is to fitting (maybe use a throwaway coin for this process to avoid damaging the coin I intend to put in book), shave off a little bit of cardboard, repeat until the coin fits snugly in whole. If too much is shaved off, just start over.

You could always put the coin in between two sheets of leather and pound it with a mallet, checking it every xx number of smacks...

Is your coin somehow below the standard half dollar's diameter?

If not, then I guess you could take a PVC-free plastic flip, cut it in half to use one sleeve, put the coin in the hole, then tape the flip onto the holder. It'll be like a see-through cover for the hole. It probably wouldn't look too good though.

I like the string idea. If that is too thick, then maybe some cotton strands?

Stretch a thin rubber band around the rim.

Now that will help to tone the coin.

Buy an air-tite with a foam insert that will fit you half dollar. Discard air-tite, keep foam insert. Cut outside of foam insert to diameter of hole in your book. Place foam insert in book, place coin in foam insert.

Is this a known and recommended practice? Will this damage the image of the coin?

Not a bad idea, but because the gap is so narrow and invisible, coin will therefore and most likely rest on top of the foam. Keep in mind that coin spins freely in hole without any wiggle room... that's how minuscule the gap is.

Even if I used a rubber band, I would have to tuck it into the gap otherwise band will come off during installation. I'm curious if it would stay in place long term due to it's flexibility...
