1958 BRASS collapsed gas bubbles ..FS101(counterclockise/tilt) TO GO TO JAMES WILES/ VARIETY VISTA

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Robert S. Lahti, Oct 11, 2017.

  1. Two pictures I've sent to Peter@cointalk included smart phone images large enough to see the BRASS obv/rev pitting due to reactions with an over abundance of Zinc...I've emailed James Wiles after reading that Variety Vista had a "NEED SPECIMEN FOR EXAMINATION" listed under a 1958 DDO that was not engraved for that effect....James has posted the conclusive evidence of a counterclockwise spread after a tilt when announcing that likeness on an early a BUFFALO NICKEL.

  10. I need a picture too...leave you're email address and at least the surface will be apparent to you ...If this goes over you're head look at both images(1995,1958) side by side on PCGS COINFACTS and try to get out of that one alive!! ......The likeliness of the 1958 being a class 5 pivoted...IS GREAT!! The 1995 Lincoln also has no doubling in the date(in which the purported pivot was said to come on the date)...Both dies side by side are nearly identical...with liberty...NORTH/SOUTH...only seems to be a characteristic of a pivoted class......I was speaking before of why doubling on my 9,GOD,and LIBERTY(north) on the 1958...this seems to be normal in an early die state.. which also was said about the doubling coming down on GOD from WE.. on the 1995,with the date finding it's center in later die states.

  12. The best I can do is the surface....It's in my email box from sending it....I would be forwarding it...

  13. What you NEED is to be willing to accept...........and in preparing, you need to find the greater chance of spotting a class 5 pivoted.....Now argue with me if you will...I'm just going on the greater evidence of the conferred numismatic LEGEND

Am I the only one who feels bad for James Wiles? How many of these fruit loops do you think he deals with everyday?

Okay... I admit to being far from a connoisseur of spirits, but I've never experienced a single one that could remotely result in, well, this. Hell, I can't think of a single psychedelic that this could reasonably be attributed to, and well, just trust me on this one...

Him? No... I feel bad for us! Remember, he asks for it and at least gets "paid" for his headaches.... ;)

    Perhaps this?

Either way, if the OP ever returns from one of his "walks" and gets around to posting one of those crazy "smartphone photos", I fully expect to see, at best, a little strike doubling. On the bright side, at least we may have another nominee for the CT "much ado about nothing" award...

  19. ...O.K....a good question?....is a 1972D/S doubled flat removed top of Lincolns ear PLUS an unseated 7 pushing the 2(tilt) #A CLASS 7#?? OR is a 1963 Lincoln struck on a 1943S (Alan Herbert-- -retained broken die rev) with a removed 4 and upper 3 loop, but retained doubling of the 3 bottom(original) #A CLASS 7#??

How about those photos, Robert? Just going out on a limb here, but I'll bet that you may actually get on-subject and possibly meaningful answers if you'd simply just post them.
