I'm a newbie when it comes to error coins, found this 1958 Wheat Penny in the take a penny cup at the local convenience store last week (exchanged it for a nickel). I know its probably just a worn die error or PMD but thought Id throw it out there... 22561165_1675552289122447_384167252_o.jpg 22494851_1675552279122448_710194643_o.jpg 22494851_1675552279122448_710194643_o.jpg 22429341_1675511295793213_918345564_o.jpg 22532132_1675552302455779_699675390_o.jpg you never know... worth anything?

You overpaid by $0.04 for the coin.

What did you see that made you think it is a doubled die?

I see nothing that strikes me as remotely remarkable, and I agree that you overpaid, but not by $0.04. It is a wheat after all, so maybe 2x give/take although I'm sure you're not losing any sleep over it. ;)

If you go to ebay you will find bags of 5000 Wheat Cents going for ~$250. The buyers of these bags are most likely looking for higher grade coins or E/V's 'Errors & Varieties'. So they paid 5 cents for a 1958 Lincoln Cent just like yours which is error free and might grade out as a F-12.

Hi, aside from the extra metal on the ER in Liberty and the 91 in the date there seems to be a faint line toward the top of all of the letters of In God We Trust---- more prominent in the IN; the W; and the two Ts in Trust.... It looked a little like the pictures Ive seen of the '95 DDO, the coin is also more deep set around the rim than regular ones and Lincoln's ear looked a little funny as well....I need to get a better camera to pick up some of the details. I'm still learning so thought you all may see something that I missed. Thanks for Looking!

Here's the Wexler listings for the 58-P. When comparing a coin you have to a known doubled die everything* must match. Not be similar or close but match.

Although he only lists one DDO for the date there is a possibility of others (CopperCoins, Variety Vista , etc) and in the future is always worth checking. Varieties can be tough, but don't get disappointed or dissuaded when coins you find turn out not to be as hoped. Each time this happens you're learning and sooner or later things will just click. Welcome to the forum!
