Agreed! "Machine doubling" would be the correct term to use. A "double strike" would be when the planchet is struck twice by the die. There is a difference. Chris

I wouldn't call it machine (strike) doubling, no, nor is it a doubled die, but is of a type you'll find to be painfully common on earlier Zlincolns. For your future benefit, do look into different anomalies caused by plating issues, as well as die deterioration doubling. P.S. It sucks that machine doubling is everywhere. Til this day I still get confused on some because older would be considered ddo and more present is now MD like for instance this is doubled 80 and this 84 isn't
