I totally agree with you on how tough it is to guess what others have paid on some of these coins in here. I love toners, but hate paying premiums, which obviously makes acquiring them tougher LOL. I don't mind paying up for a nice coin, just not "retail" as you said. Which as you can see by a lot of my guesses, tend to be on the low side.

The big plus that I have been taking from this thread is what kind of prices some people are willing to pay for nice toners. This can help me in the end in establishing prices that will help me on the selling end down the road.

There are definitely deals to be found on nice toners especially if you have a little faith and imagination with some images. I just found one very similar to my avatar coin with beautiful colors that pop with glossy/lustery surfaces and it's stickered and I paid less than what a boring run of the mill example without a sticker would sell for.

 

Oh yea, well im like MacGyver, i just take high grade common dates and make my own.
Using a flashlight, some gun powder & a 12V battery

 

MacGyver would have done it with just a paperclip and a banana peel.

Normally I would have never paid this much for a 64 coin. But I have a weakness, maybe a sickness for these old NGC holders. The coin feels like a solid 65 in hand, so now it will have to take a trip to Joisy..

 

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here again I got this for $18. I don't know if that's a good price on this particular Franklin I know these are the highest mintage proof of the series.

Sorry for the slow reply. Mailman was late at the PO Box today, so had to make two trips. Quick and crappy pics, but it has beautiful purple toning on both sides along the rim. PCGS puts it at $420, but in my experience that's a little high. I DID get a coupon for $50 off, so you are guessing what I paid including my discount.
