I'm fairly sure about this one but thought I'd show it for comments anyway. It appears to be a 1901-O RPD, and from Flynn's book I'd call it RPD-003. The error was not recognized by the dealer I bought it from. I would call it a cherry pick except that it isn't one listed in the guide.

Breen lists an RPD for the 01 in the date but says that it is on PROOF's only. Nice find!!!

Wow, awesome! Did you cherrypick that or buy it? Either way, very nice! :thumb:

I suppose I can't call it a cherry pick, since I bought it, only that I recognized that it was a variety and the dealer did not. I do not know if it carries a premium over a normal 1901-O, but I am trying to complete a Barber dime set with as many varieties as possible. I paid $150.

I wonder if that really is a proof?? If so, I'd say that's a lucky buy! I guess to me it looks like a solid AU coin, but I'm not great at grading nor am I sure what a circulated (or "impaired") proof would exactly look like...

Not likely to be a proof on a 1901-O dime. Looks like a realy nice RPD to me.

    1) Very nice catch, and I agree, it is RPD-003, but an earlier die state than the one in Flynn's book.

    2) Any variety that you are able to get that is not attributed is considered a cherrypick. Not just the ones listed in the book.

Very nice, I have a bunch of Barber Varieties, and yours is one of the nicer ones.

Have you considered joining the Barber Coin Collectors Society? (The BCCS).
