My contributions are dwindling rapidly (though I do have a couple left for the century).

[Eeek, by the time I locate an appropriate year in the morass that is my "organizational system," we are two years beyond. I think I need an intervention. Muhuhahahaha... :wacky:]

Aye, don't feel bad, mate, 'cause it happened to me several times too. I was all happy when I found some 1812s in my archives, only to find that the Time Machine had sailed on without me!

I may be stuck as far as 1809 goes. I know I had an 1809 US large cent on the old Holey Coin Vest, and surely have other 1809s, but I can't find any pix. (And by the time I did, it would be 1806 anyway.)

I wonder how much this thread will slow down when we get back into the 1600s or so. And if anyone will ever buy a coin just to be able to play it in this game. Haha. I can see myself doing that, and I'm probably not the only such loonie-bird around here... :wacky::rolleyes:

Playing these coin games on here induced me to take pix of most of my coins and organize the files on this computer. Now I can just do a quick search of the Coin Pix folder, say, for 1808, and bingo, there they all are. Or not, as the case may be. I have mentioned earlier that I have a lot of 1700s coins, mostly Dutch and VOC. I will do my best to not bore you all or show off a lot of junk. Perhaps I will just post a maximum of 5 coins per year and request that you or Siberian Man say when it is time to move on to the next year. I am sure other guys will have 1700s coins as well. I have only a few from the 1600s, and beyond that they are sort of 'primitive' and do not really have a 'date' as such. Thanks again to all you big time coin guys for making this stuff happen. I really enjoy it and I keep learning more and more.

Coin-nut sums up what happened with me. That, and I made a small notepad document that I 'work ahead' with. Basically it keeps my next several contributions ready to go and pre-formatted with the link to my collectivecoin account (photo host), so when a year comes up the post is ready to go.

I still get passed a few times, like if I'm busy at work. If it's a near miss I employ the 'time warp effect' and post whatever I want :D and then bring it to the current year unless I'm off by more than a year (totally missed 1817, but oh well).

The first year I don't have is 1801 and I actually searched on eBay for some 1801 coins to see if I could fill the hole, inspired by this game. But I didn't see anything I really had to have and didn't want to buy it just for the year.

I'm actually checking this thread about twice daily to make sure I don't miss a year ;)

My problem is that I'll finishing my run is 19 years, but i will continue to check the beauties posted here.

I have 46 left (my list is in excel, it keeps the count). Coin-nut says he can fill about every year until 1722(?). After that I have only 10 older. Nine in the 1600's, oldest 1636. I'm interested to see what happens after 1722. Will I get to my next, 1707? (It's one of my favorites)

Y'all are WAY more organized than I am! My solution, since I've posted stuff willy-nilly all over the Internet for the last 18 years, is to Google Image search with my username and the date I want as keywords: for example "lordmarcovan 1808", then scroll through the images for stuff I recognize. It's interesting what comes up. Sometimes it's mine, often there's other people's stuff. I have seen YOUR coins come up, Cathy. I guess any thread in which I posted that mentions that date will return a hit, including a hit on other people's coins in the same thread.

1806 is the year I'm waiting for, to drop one of my (all-too-often-posted) favorites. You may look no further than the right side of my sig line banner below for a preview. :)
