The 1983 copper error penny is worth $15,000.00 and weights 3.11 But if it Zink and weight 2.5 its only worth 1 cent sir......
@Reggie Holmes Yes. It's called a transitional off-metal mint error. Most of us know this. Do you have one? Here is a good example on Ebay at this moment
There's also brass plated and that will cause lots of issues, with people thinking they have a copper one . http://koinpro.tripod.com/Brass.htm
My local coin dealer gave me this cent because he knows I collect error coins and he is a great dealer (Doelgers Galley of Coins in Warren, NJ). It appears to have extra metal stuck in. At first I thought the rim had split, but a closer look showed this extra metal.
What does it weigh? And a picture of the back. Cant tell from picture but does it have copper anywhere?
I don’t know where I put it! I will look for it and weigh it and photo the reverse when I find it. Might be a while.
Sorry. I was not clear. I was just saying that you should have started your own thread a year ago. By posting it in this thread, you didn't get a reply for almost a year. Your post got lost. Your coin is a bit cool. I'm not sure what it is. You should start a new thread about it. I'll bet you get several more replies.
