Amen Brother. Now, mind you, if a certain brother collector hadn't of saved me the expense of buying into this offering, I'd have been all over this offering.
I'm probably gonna take a lot of flack, but the 4 piece American Liberty 225th set is in my cross hairs. It's value may not be evident initially, but I think it's got a shot at appreciating down the road.
I was going to be too when it was first announced until the more I thought about it. On the bright side maybe this product tanking and even the big boys being very conservative in their orders will teach the mint to stop just repackaging the exact same things over and over.
I don't know if there's anything to this or if it's just speculation, but someone on the PCGS forum seems to think there's a good reason why it hasn't sold out yet. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/comment/11816359/#Comment_11816359
I'm with you, I really want one of the medal sets. I think it is a bit over priced, but what can you do???
If I knew that for sure, I would. Would you offer a replacement guarantee to back up your prediction???
Just going off history of the US mint medals. Last year was a bit of an exception so far with how popular the design was and a minuscule mintage, but even that one if you got them sold it immediately and re-bought it now you'd have the medals for free with a few bucks left over
And I missed out on that one, but plan to buy one unholdered, and without the price extravagance evidenced in the initial feeding frenzy........
I was lucky enough to get two from each mint before the sellout. Much better looking, (imo) and much lower mintages, at a lower price even. This medal set does have the different finishes going for it. Gain, or loss, I'm getting one.
I just checked, and the LE set is still available. Temptation is really getting to me. Where is my common sense when I need it???
Completely agree. I was very excited for that one and for the series initially. It's a beautiful piece, I think you will love it when you get one. The prices have been retreating on the raw ones over the last couple months, might not be a bad pickup with some eBay bucks
