Love it. Looks XF40 to me.

I think the damage and wear on the rim prevents an XF,
nice coin and I agree with the VF 30/35.

Did anyone notice the off center strike or collar issue?
I don't think this is normal, the lettered edge, also has effects from the strike.

Yes it is slightly off center checking the rims on both sides from 3- 6 o'clock.
I don't know if that affects the price.

I'm not sure the appearance of wear isn't related to the strike but can see your point on the dings for sure. These 1812's are all over the place in strike.

@Pickin and Grinin - is there a fair amount of trace luster on this in hand?

    .

The slight Halo in the fields, I can equate a definite amount of lustre loss,
not smooth. The areas around the devices, show close to original surfaces, besides the darks color, which is not pitted. Looks like an AU. The gray is very vibrant.

I like error's and oddities, the price doesn't matter.
It has found a new home.:)

The grey is an acquired taste. I would be scared to even try. This is original.

I like the Grey on it. It kind of brings you back to a time before colored TV and you could picture the era to a degree by just looking at it. Thanks for sharing with us all.
