Hello everyone, I took a few new scans of my ancient/older coins. I barely know anything about these three coins so any information you have helps. This is what i have; -Mexican token (Gold) -Coin/token from India ("About 300 years old" was written on the 2x2 holder) -Ancient coin (I've been told it could be Greek) Thanks! Karl
The ancient coin appears to be Roman. I believe it depicts Constantine on the Obverse. I'm sure someone else here can tell you more about it and the others.
The 1st one is Roman: Emperor Valentinian AE3, Thessalonica mint. TES in exergue, V in left field, * over B in right field. 375-378 AD. Reference: RIC IX Thessalonica 31 type xxxviii.
Thanks for the ID. I paid $8.00 CDN for the Roman coin about 10 years ago. Looks like I got ripped off.
The Mexican Gold Piece Has No Face Value. The Krause cataloge that was issued in 1991 and refferes to the years since 1701 tells that there are 5 varietis of that "fantasy coin" Peso. I have another variety weight 0.4 grams , dated 1865 mentioned here with photographs http://www.calgoldcoin.com/mexico.htm and here http://members.tripod.com/~GILAD_ZUCKERMAN/matauang_tanpa_harga.html#MEXICO
