Does anyone know this difference between Type I and Type II, 1981 Kennedy proofs? The Red Book gives no indication. Thanks.
I thought it was the mintmark, one is blob and the other is a clear S. But I may be thinking of the SBA dollars, so what for someone else to chime in.
It's the shape of the mint mark. The type II has a large, bulbous, "fly away" serif at the top and the type I looks a lot like the '79 type II. The type II tends be be flatter along its entire lenght but this isn't a good way to pick it up.
