I believe this is a LMC with finning. http://www.error-ref.com/finning/ The first thing I noticed was that the rim had a really sharp edge and was thick. The rim is wider than normal, You can see extra metal that goes almost completely around the coin. At it's thickest point, the rim is noticeably thicker than a normal coin. The finned coin is on the bottom. On the opposite side it is closer to a normal coin. The coin weighs 3.14g
I don't know how common these are, but it's a nice addition to my collection of different types of errors.
Yea, it's not proof. A finned coin is caused by an abnormally strong strike, so it will give a really strong detailed strike, but it is a business strike.
Nice 69-S. However those coins aren't proofs, even though they feature the S mintmark. San-Francisco made both buisness strikes and proofs from 68-74 I believe, and after that San-Francisco only made proof strikes and more recently special mint sets.
In 1968 they also minted coins for circulation, Yours is a business strike. Here's a link that will help you. https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/small-cents/lincoln-memorial-cent/
