I assume this is a Broad Strike clad Roosevelt? Being an error dime, can it still carry an FB/FT designation?
In my experience, it's tough to get full strike designations on error coins because of the unevenness of strike, however I wouldn't discourage you from trying to get it. Do you have an obverse photo as well?
Thanks. I didn't want to draw this conclusion based on one image alone, although I could have. I believe your coin is double struck, with the second strike out of collar.
This will obviously be going to grading because everyone is all so religiously dependent on them to justify paying any money for any given coin. You are a seasoned collector, Chris, and I think should be able to see and grade a coin without the plastic and so are a lot of others on here. I'm aware that I don't know everything, unlike yourself, so I ask questions. A FB designation on THIS Dime would bring crazy money. But, instead of jumping to paying money for an average, modern clad dime to come back as disappointment, I'm going to ask. Don't want to give valuable input? Back off then. There is ONE Full Band 1990 P in PCGS according to their website.Buuuut...you already know that too.
This question was for people who can stand their ground and defend their skills to give valuable input. I wasn't and never am looking for "You'll have to see what the piece of plastic and expensive opinion have to say about it".
Maybe it's just me, but is the image not big/clear enough to see if it has full bands? I'd like to see a clearer picture. Maybe I'm blind.
Is that a good thing or pretty average? Never saw one so clearly defined but that's kind of what I had originally thought seeing as how the words are clearly defined on the outer edge as well. And as far as full bands, probably a no go because of the error?
It's better than a broadstrike, if you can get them to recognize it as double-struck too. I think you'll have to spell it out for them on the submission form, or they may simply call it a broadstrike without any mention of the second strike. As for the FB designation, I am on the fence as to whether they'll award it to you or not. This coin almost certainly is so well-detailed because the second strike was so well-aligned with the first. I suspect they might withhold the FB designation to avoid creating a white elephant for an eventual collector of FB Roosies.
You didn't like my response in the other thread, so you act like a child. Like I said, it figures. Chris
A 1990P FB error coin? That was your original question. Wasn't it? There are only two possible people on these forums that I would guess might know the answer to this question. If they don't respond, then I guess your only recourse would be to submit it to PCGS and take your chances since you are too lazy to call them and ask. Don't complain if they don't attribute FB on an error coin. Chris
Chris, enough. You CAN keep going because you know that you can and nobody will stop you. That's your attitude and it's fine. However, I personally see no value whatsoever in your behavior and attitude. If there are supposedly only 2 people on here who can answer my question, why are you bothering to say anything? To try getting under my skin. I honestly don't care what you think considering you have never once offered me a word of true wisdom. We're obviously on the wrong foot here and I would like to offer a peaceful resolution of starting from scratch and getting over it. IF you have insight or even a valid opinion, I welcome it. But don't do what you've been doing because I personally have no respect for a guy who is only trying to discourage people, be a know it all without knowledge, or generally disrespectful in my direction. I respect that you know more about coins, but if this is how you exercise your ability, I'm going to lose that as well.
Okay, let's start over. Ask Fred Weinberg and paddyman98 if they know whether PCGS will attribute FB on a broadstrike. If they don't know, then you will have to ask PCGS. Chris
Thank you. You know more and I understand that, but we're still in it for the same reasons so no need to go back and forth arguing.
I am not to sure about the FB/FT destination.. But why not? Lets see a better picture of the Reverse. But I do have an example in my collection -
