I see that a couple have not chosen a numerical grade, some have. I know not all TPGS put the numerical grade on the slab, only the category such as XF, or AU on details coins...??? Also... attributes???
I'm going to call this, as the second guess was spot on for price! It was $27.99. I bought it raw, and submitted it at the Summer FUN show to ANACS. Came back as XF40 - Details - Damaged (No environmental damage, just the hit on the reverse I'm guessing) So I guess @ron_c is up?
I think it might be a little better if we also have to guess the alpha grade, maybe not the numeric. So we would guess whether it is G, VG, VF, MS, AU, etc, but not guess the numeric, since (as @Johndoe2000$ pointed out), not all TPG's give details coins a numeric grade assignment. So we would guess; 1) Price (paid or sold, decided by person posting the coin) 2) details/straight 3) reason for details/no reason for straight 4) alpha grade I would also maybe go with points as: 2 for price 1 for each of the other catagories ???
Unfortunately, I'm going to be busy today and I don't have anything to post at this time anyway. So, I will have to pass this time and let someone else post something.
Correct, and I think that would also help with our grading skills. It's just a thought for a way to overcome the non-numeric grade given to details coins.
Points Table Beefer518 - 4 Points ron_c - 4 Points baseball21 - 3 Points KSorbo - 2 Points Pickin and Grinin - 2 Points Johndoe2000$ - 2 Points IBetASilverDollar - 1 Point charlietig - 1 Point jwitten - 1 Point ddddd - 1 Point
Let's do that. So it will go this way: Step 1) Someone will post a picture (both sides) with the grade hidden (basically like a Guess the Grade thread) and mention if they are looking for the price paid or sold (decided by person posting the coin). Step 2) Then everyone else will guess: i) Price (paid or sold, decided by person posting the coin) ii) details/straight iii) reason for details/no reason for straight iv) alpha grade (i.e. G, VG, F, ... , AU, MS) {no numbers} Step 3) Original poster will grade as follows: *2 marks for price (i) *1 mark for each of the other categories (ii-iv) ...so max possible is 5 marks....whoever has the most marks will win that round and be award 1 point (and posting privileges) ...note: (iii) "reason for details" will be left for the original poster to determine...if it's close, they can choose to award the mark or not to award it (i.e. if the coin has "environmental damage" but someone simply says "damage") Hopefully I haven't made this overly complicated...
The slab says DDO FS-108 Die 8.I'd like to crack this one, for right now, it is a hole filler. What did I pay. If it's anyones concern it is a stage C.
i) Price ...$100 (just a guess; I don't quite know if this is one of the rarer 72 DDOs) ii) Details..cleaned iii) It has that look where it's either been wiped or dipped with something improper iv) AU
$90 AU Straight Graded (Boy did I mess up, I guessed $90 for a MS grade, but a guess is a guess and no changing later )
