German Notgeld issued by the administration of the city of Pirmasens... well known for the manufacture of shoes.
lol hilarious. Speaking of which I don't think I have ever seen any tokens or coins that do commemorate shoes. Great one!
While it may be known locally (The Deutsch/Germans) as a shoe center. The American GI stationed around Kaiserslautern and Zweibrucken knows it as ground Zero for ParkBrau Beer. I can proudly say I speak from experience too, LOL... Take Care Ben
It sure is. http://www.stadt-pirmasens.de/bilderalbum/displayimage.php?album=8&pos=5 They even have a "Shoe Road" in that region, a touristic route focusing on leather and shoes. Of course shoes for the mass market come from elsewhere these days ... Christian
I was stationed near Primesans...Great piece of history there..There are home to one of the best breweries in that country also..... edit: I just reread and saw Bonedigger's comments....He hit it right on the head.
