Hi Chris/TommyC03: Heres a better shot of just the date. Look at the "1" in the date. It's cut off at the bottom horizontally, like a punch sort of error. There also seens to be some sort of shadow of Lincolns jacket with a hairline outline.
There may be some machine doubling going on at the jacket but that is not considered to be an error. Still looks like it took a good direct hit from something at some point which flattened out the metal at the one. Gets hard to tell when a coin is this worn and old. I would like to tell you something more is going on and hate to disappoint but sometimes it's just not much of anything. But hang on to it anyways, nothing to lose for saving an old wheatie.
I checked on Coppercoins, Wexler, and Variety Vista. None have any doubled die listed for that year at Philly mint.
Well thats disappointing as I really thought I had something unique. I do thank everyone for their input though - it's been a learning experience!
It is very possible your cent could be a DDO =1 and 9.The amount of wear on the surfaces, says Pmd ( no lustre).
There is no DDO. Only damage, don't lead the guy on and let him think he has anything other than a damaged, worthless coin.
