Little sister is moving in with me next month, lost her husband in July and getting kicked out by her landlord. So she knew I collected and she had saved up about $200.00 worth of Halves from the 80's-90's and last night I got to them. Found this one and another two not yet photographed, over polished die errors. She also has a 5 gallon water jug nearly full of cents, so I have my winter project ready for me.
Sorry to hear of Sis's situation but luckily she has a big Brother to look out for her. Grease filled die (big time)?
She is the one on the left in my avatar. We three in that pic are very tight. I think the second half might possibly be grease filled die. The 1982-1986 all exhibited the missing initials, either partly or all together. I normally don't do a lot of halves but I've seen these listed as over polished dies, but I also stand to be corrected. I've been wrong in the past.
The '82 missing the designer's initials is more common than the '72, but it is still a nice find. While there may be some missing the initials because of a grease-filled die, those in big demand are the ones that have been polished out of the die. Chris
Missing the hair on the back of the head on the '83 kind of gives me the shivers thinking back to '63.
