Alrighty then... something a little different. Here we have a 1921S Buffalo (Bison) nickel NGC AU Details Obverse Planchet Flaw PCGS price guide... MS40 = $900 MS60 = $1800 How much did it sell for???
They have to be submitted as an error or they get details grades. Whether or not that one was submitted as one I don't know
1100 ...I was also thinking that someone might have bought it to reslab in a genuine error holder and thus be able to up the asking price
Same though errors on a key date can be a detriment, but I bet it does get sent in as an error at some point.
If I were buying a high grade key date I would not want an error. If I wanted an error I would go for a common date with the error. I wonder how many others feel the same way?
I'm with you, but perhaps an error collector, especially one that collects planchet flaws would be interested in this one???
They may be interested but not necessarily at the key date price. Collecting errors and key dates may not always overlap, resulting in a smaller pool of buyers for the coin.
Probably a lot. I'm not really into errors so I don't know how I feel. I guess some would depend on the type of error but I can see how date/mm would be largely irrelevant
And I'm one of those weird folks that would want the straight key date, and then I'd decide I needed the error version as well, and go looking.
