Hi I posted a two tailed Lincoln Memorial cent under blog. It appears to be real! Looks to be between 68-and mid 70s by comparing reverses during that period to the one my mom-in-law found. wt is a little over 3 grams. One side is rotated say -45degress. I attached photos to the blog entry. I don't know enough about coin talk to use effectively and so this heading and thought I make a comment.

Can you look at mine? A lincoln two tailed wt=3+grams. one reverse rotated -45%. Reverse looks like it falls between 68-and mid 70s. It's under cafe blog as I don't know how to effectively use Coin Talk. Inputs appreciated. thanks marty

    Marty,

You won't get as good of a response from your blog. Click on the US Coins forum and in the upper left of the page you will see "Post New Thread". Click on that, enter your title and post away. Be sure to include photos. It's pointless asking questions without photos and expect to get good sound advice.

    Chris.

There is a 99.9997% chance it is a magician's coin but why don't you start your own thread and post some photos there. You will get a lot better response in the threads than in your blog. (I am probably not the only one that does not read the blogs.)

In reference to modern coins... In the past it was possible to strike a "double sided" coin at the US Mint because the equipment made it possible. This has been changed. Can't remember now when they did it, but now die sockets have a ridge inside. One ridge for obverse, two for reverse, or something like that. The corresponding dies have matching grooves. Thus a reverse die cannot phycically be put in an obverse socket. It would take a conspiracy between a die maker, transfer engraver, and press operator (maybe others too) to even make a "double sided" coin.

Lots of coin stores sell 'em but they do sell 'em as magician trick coins. The concept of making them is incredible . . . but with today's technology on machining a coin, you never know. There's absolutely no way by looking at it with the naked eye that it's not real.

You have what? A Kennedy Half with Lincoln's image stamped into the coin? Or a Lincoln Cent with Kennedy's image stamped into the coin? Either way it did not leave the Mint that way and worth only face (or maybe a bit over face to those that collect such pieces).
