    OK, the photos are pretty accurate for toning/color, contact marks etc. You should be able to grade it. The Reverse has a little glare but shouldn't be a problem as it is still a good representation of the coin in hand. 1974D Ike Obverse.jpg 1974 Ike Reverse.jpg

    You interested in a Blue Pack, 1974 S 40% silver? The grade looks like MS66 or maybe MS67. I know very little about these type coins and grading them.

    I have a few Blue Ike's. I have a 74S Unc. Silver that I am happy with for now.

    The fields look remarkably clean, with just a small amount of annealing chatter. The bust contains more, along with a nasty gash near the back of the neck. With that said, I'm seeing a 65, but I've also seen 66s in similar condition, so that grade may not be out of the question either.

    @Ike Skywalker

    Awesome job! I got this today for $18.00. More of a study piece for me. I am not concerned about what it's worth. This was a product of the dealer sending in 100 74D's to get graded at once. I thought this was more of a 63 like others who guessed but the dealer had five of these all very similar with him all 65's too.

    Whoa, dude! Interesting.

    As soon as I can set up my camera and stand, I'll going to try and get some photos of the 1974 S silver Ike to put for a Guess the Grade.

    In order to buy a toned Morgan I wanted, I had to buy several other coins from the guy that I don't have any interest and one of them was this Blue Pack Ike.

    You had to buy coins you didn't want? Please explain.

    I was at 64/65, but these aren't my specialty. Great coin.

    If it were silver, it would be worth a lot!

    Thanks, I now would like to get a CuNi business strike Ike in a 66. I bought another 74D a few weeks ago and it might make the 66.

    In order to buy a toned Morgan from an individual, I had to also buy what few coins he had. He would not sell the Morgan I wanted by itself, as he was getting rid of his coins. This included another toned Morgan that had a weak strike, the Blue Pack 1974 S silver Ike, a 1864 2 cent piece in Good condition, a Type I 1913 Buffalo in XF condition, misc. circulated Mercury dimes around XF. It was about a dozen or so of low grade raw coins, except for the the slabbed toned Morgans.

    After reexamining the 1974 S silver Ike, it's not in the condition as I remember, as I haven't looked at it in a couple of years and from what I see now, it might go a 65.

    Searching through BU 1977-P Ikes will likely offer you the best chance at getting a 66, IMO. I believe there are more 77s in MS66 (PCGS) than any other Cu-Ni issue. Does your LCS have some of these? I should also mention that, in all likelihood, it will be cheaper just to buy a '77 in 66 outright. Here's a link for the cheapest BIN offering currently on eBay:
