1881 3 Cent - RPD?

    The inside of the 88 of the date looks like a RPD. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks.

    There is an 1881 RPD but this isn't the known RPD. If you look at the other lettering you'll notice the Longacre doubling and the shelf like doubling and that's what I believe you're seeing in this specimens date

    Longacre doubling doesn't occur on the date, or at least I've never seen it. I do think it is a RPD.

    I don't think that's a match; the underlying date leans in the opposite direction then what's pictured in the NGC link. But I do think it's an RPD.
