I have come across this 2008 Alaska Quarter Mistrike and I can't find anything like it on the web! Could this really be the first one found?? Anyone have any info on this, or know someone who would be interested in purchasing??

Welcome to CoinTalk! It is off centered slightly. A nice find and worth keeping, but not a major error.

By "edge" I assume you mean "rim"?

Like the other gent said, it appears to be an off-center strike, which can be anything from similar to yours, to only a tiny portion of the planchet having been struck. You may not find an exact match for yours, but if you search "off-center", I'm sure you'll find other similar examples.

Any chance you've a photo of the obverse?

If the other side is normal it's not off center. It's MAD.

    What's that mean??

Unfortunately, the coin isn't "off-center" as I originally suspected, but is simply misaligned. It's still rather cool, though, and is more extreme than the average. Thanks for the update... and welcome to the forum.

"MAD" = "MisAligned Die". My apologies this wasn't clarified earlier.

An off center coin is off center on both sides.
A misaligned die strike (not as valuable) is off center on one side.

Off centers have to be displayed being off center on both sides for it to be an off center. According to an expert named Fred Weinberg. But do keep this one, it's something to add to the collection if you collect coins

Always post both sides of any coin you have a question about. I say yes to MAD - MisAligned Die Strike on the Reverse side. Nice find. But not super rare.

Not rare but I wouldn't mind finding one in my pocket change.

Bank box roll searching will yield plenty of these in most denominations. Not so much easily found in random pocket change.
