    I could use this as an opportunity to bring up a ceartain other name for these coins and why this is a good reason to use it... but I won't :p

    Curious, because as a negative on the struck coin this feature would have to be a positive on the die. Therefore, one has to think of a strikethrough in which the offending extra metal persisted on the die for a while.
