Why are you trying to give me info of their guidelines. In my post I said I've used their service before. Also the coin you just linked is a perfect example of a coin that I would search for with a sticker if buying online. You really think it's a bad thing to have a service like CAC when buying a coin online with 4 figure swings as it goes up the MS ladder?
There is a reason the majority of the most expensive coins are in PCGS slabs, CAC isn't that reason nor is registry sets. There is also a reason why basically none are in anything but PCGS or NGC, CAC isn't the reason there either. It seems you may be one of the ones that wishes they could pull stickers off
I would never do that...because like it or not, the bean ups the premium. This renewed post was just to get input about the lowest grade they would bean...mission accomplished. But would they consider beaning the same 1896-S if it were an ANACS coin?? Of course not. And as mentioned, I like the little dancing guy. Best to all.
Nor should they. That would create a duel market for their brand which in the end would completely destroy it
Won't even look at a coin that's stickered....stickers are for those whom don't have the knowledge on how to grade a coin ,or for what they lack in life's experiences. I wouldn't even look at a stickered coin.....as there are many others same grade ,same date, and a lot less money! Same for the slab ....as it has been proven here on CT many times that yes TPG are human and as such subject to error,or mistakes. You buy the coin not matter raw or slabbed.....if I wanted to collect stickers I would of collected stamps instead of coins. And we all know where stamp collecting is.....yup the crapper!
Dang, I didn't mean to beat a hornets nest with a stick! I was just curious as to the lowest grade that CAC would sticker. Hugs and kisses to everybody!
Ideally, there would be no need for CAC (or TPGs for that matter), but reality tells us otherwise. I've long believed that there are two reasonable paths to success in this hobby. The first is genuinely learning for oneself, and is, unfortunately, probably the least common of the two. The other is for collectors to pay someone who has to do it for them, and is pretty much what the TPGs (to an extent anyway) and CAC has done or is doing. The fact is that generally speaking, if one examines the collection of the average raw buyer and compares it to the average CAC buyer, well, there really is no comparison.
Or slabbed buyer for that matter in my opinion. The default position for whatever reason from some people always seems to be that the grading is wrong, there is never any chance that they need to learn more or that a photo isn't 100 percent accurate or they're just wrong ect, its always just they are to superior to use it.
Indeed. Although I've never been a big fan of those who rely strictly upon TPGs, it would be nearly impossible to reasonably argue that if such a comparison was made between average raw and slabbed buyers, the same wouldn't hold true. As with most anything in life, people are entitled to their opinions. However, the wise will also take what can benefit them from both what they like and dislike, and regardless of personal feelings or preferences. Very little in this hobby can offer the upside that CAC can, in everything from the education to ROI, and really is that simple.
No more than anything that you post! There's streets named after you "One Way" As I find most all your post arrogant, condescending, and self-serving. That's why you're on iggy 99.9% of the time. I only removed you when I need a laugh! Others here believe it or not, do have opinions ,and are entitled to express them within the rules of this forum. And believe it or not ,are respected far more by other members then yours. You're a "well known member" alright! Maybe not for the reasons you believe.
Go ahead and put me back on ignore, your last remark was extremely condescending and demeaning to collectors and saying that you won't even look at a snickered coin is only hurting yourself. Plenty of posts from multiple posters have already addressed how seriously opinions like that should be taken
If the shoe fits...I love posts from "know-it-alls" who block a view of their profile. I've actually heard professional numismatists with exactly the same credentials as the founder of CAC discuss the grade of specific coins already stickered and slabbed. Therefore, I'm very impressed by collectors who insist they can grade just as well.
A little off topic, but as long as we are arguing about CAC... What happens to all these high premium CAC coins after some Chinaman or Ukrainian discovers they can create value by adding a little green 1/10th of cent sticker to the slab? Holographic stickers aren't exactly a manufacturing marvel. Also, apparently there is very little that can be done to stop counterfeit manufacturing in certain places of the world. It just seems like a big house of cards waiting to crumble.
You can check the CAC database to make sure it's legitimately stickered. Just use the NGC or PCGS cert and it should pop up
They have been around for almost a decade so it's not like it just started or anything that is a new concern or anything the fakers haven't been aware of. As SilverDollar mentioned you can check the certs and they are very open with working with people if they wanted to verify. They don't really have much if anything to gain adding it, they aren't the ones selling the coins for full value anyway and the more you add to it the easier it becomes for people to figure out what's going on. With the amount of money behind CAC and the fact that JA used to if not still is a part of a nonprofit that goes after scammers that's a lot of extra heat someone would face if they were knowingly trying to run such a scam.
