Here is a great example of the Lincoln market as of now.In this case, we have a PCGS semi-key date in AU-50. No funny biz, no questions or doubts. A PCGS AU-50 1924-D Lincoln Cent. ( August greysheet) AU bid: $135 ask: $150 / MS-60 bid: $200 ask: $220 / MS-63 bid: $300 ask: $330 I was going to try and spank this at last second for $180, guess I won't be buying this one. Therefore, I have yanked all my high grade semi's from the store, and going into a holding / buying pattern untill '09 at least. Thats if and when I can get them right. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220154869811&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012 another case: XF bid: $95 / ask: $105 NGC XF-40 1924-D I was lucky to get this one for $120+ at last second. Crazy huh? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180164656570&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008 I don't see it getting cheaper in the near future, hang on for the ride folks !!
Are you using greysheet prices which apply to raw coins if you want to know what ye old coffins are trading for these days you need the blue sheet.
That's incorrect nohope, Grey Sheet prices apply to both raw and slabbed coins. The only difference between the Grey and Blue sheets is that the Grey is for sight-seen coins and the Blue is for sight-unseen coins.
Uhhh, I get the CCDN, Cetrified CDN, but it does not have Lincolns... Am I missing somethng? I do know that it is not uncommon for AU coins to go for more than MS-60 prices, they can in alot of cases be a more attractive coin.
I do get the Regular greysheet as a suscriber, I eat sleep and breath that monthly , lol. I meant, my CCDN does not show certified Lincolns, just $, type, gold, etc....was I missing something there...
First off, it is not unusual at all for coins to go on eBay and other retail venues for more than sheet pricing. Second, an above average coin (for the grade) is also likely to go for higher. Lastly, I have found those coins that I get for a "steal" tend to be crappy coins. In short, I see nothing out of the ordinary, or leading me to reach the conclusion that Lincoln's are on fire, although I do expect an uptick in prices over the next few years...Mike
I have to say something here. Every one of these coins has same appearance and texture, etc. They are processed in some way, and some people are going to very very suprised when it comes time to sell.
The coins I have bough from Eric have not been processed. However, the pictures................................
Now you have something there too Rlm....I have bought many also that don't look that way in hand. There is one coin in particular I bought from them that came as processed as the picture. A cleaned high grade 24-D, I paid a proper price and knew what I was getting. After this is when they started going crazy. By the way, look at the bid timing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330159630352 I have not bought since this one, just because the prices have gone crazy, not because of anywhing else.
