1962 penny weight

    What is the max weight the the us mint allows for a 1962 penny it weighs 3.29 grams seems a little heavy does anyone have a true factual answer if so please respond thank you

    Fred Weinberg answer on previous thread. So normal within tolerance is 2.98g to 3.24g

    Awesome thank you for your expertise so its over weight not by enough but i will hold in to it

    It's a little heavy. The scale could be off, or, the coin could be slightly thicker and heavier than normal. If you weigh a number of copper cents that all come in around 3.1 and this one still weighs 3.29, then it's not the scale and it is heavy.

    There could also be residues on the coin...
