I must say that ROMA produces a beautifull auction catalogue. Photos/ layout/ descriptions....OUTSTANDING! Almost forgot, some really outstanding coins too John PS: It gets dark at 7:45 now, so will have more free time....
Twice in three auctions they've had some excuse for not sending my coins in a timely fashion. They claim I haven't paid until I send them receipts. Then, one time, they didn't ship my coins I paid for more than a month previously because they were too busy working on another auction. They have some nice stuff, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle.
Then don't bid, I'm sure those of us who do enjoy participating in their sales will be grateful to have one less competitor! Ultimately, I can buy coins from ROMA that just aren't offered elsewhere. Their sales are always full of unique or second known coins that can't be picked off the shelf at Vcoins or elsewhere. Case in point (and not that I'm a customer for them, being of more modest means), but I was struck by the question: when was the last time there were 2 dekadrachms of Alexander in the same auction? I'm pretty sure the answer is never...
Indeed it's a beautiful catalogue. The numismatic equivalent of Madison Avenue window shopping. Nomos is another favourite of mine that produces outstanding catalogues with excellent write-ups.
