Two ounces of silver + a Morgan for $25? That is an amazing deal!

I hate to rain on your parade @Mike the plumber but before you start jumping into buying things without knowing what they are, you'd better start learning something about the items you are buying. You may have gotten lucky this time, but I've seen many instances where people have been burned simply because they were too anxious to buy what they thought was a good deal.

Was at a pawn shop buying tools and overheard a guy trying to buy them. I looked on ebay real quick and seen the Morgan goes for around $23. They were offering him $10 for all 3. I cought him outside and offered him $25. So yes chris. I did little reserch before.

Haven't seen that first one before, I assume it is silver.
The second one has no date? Is it an ASE? Those all have dates?
The Morgan looks real although scratched.
Why would he go to a pawn shop? He can go to the buy and sell gold and silver place and get $40. When you offer $25 you are just taking advantage the same as the pawn shop.

The first too are either private rounds or fake. Hopefully fake since the guy was offered basically the lowest price a Morgan will ever go for and expected to kick in two extra ounces of silver worth more than the low ball offer.

He was asking $20. I know nothing about the other two coins just that the Morgan went for 22 or $23. So giving him 25 is more than he was asking.

I know that the Morgan was really scratched up.i did not look at the other two that much. Had to go back to work I will research them later. Very new to this and would not know how to spot a fake.

Like baseball21 said, (fakes) the two rounds may be silver plated with copper cores. In that case you broke about even on the entire purchase. Even pawn shops are very careful not to let something like this slip by.

I would have assumed the shop would have tested all of them before making any offer, and wouldn't buy fake rounds.

Well, almost! That Morgan is damaged, so it is more likely that you could only get melt value for it. If silver is about $17 and there is .77344 ounces of silver in a Morgan, you do the math.

The SAE is a crude copy. There is no guarantee that it is even silver. Did you research Golden State Mint? Are they legitimate?

These are things you need to know before you buy such things.

Without a scale they feel very light. They all feel the same weight in your hand not with a scale. I did not see dates on either of the first two. But didn't get the look for more than 2 minutes. Then I had to go to work. Thank you all for your input, as I said before I am very new to this.

To be honest Chris he was leaving and I wanted to catch him before he left. I have done no research on the other two I've been at work. I will be home in about an hour and try to find something on them. I wasn't trying to be rude. If I lose $7 then I'm fine with that. Lol
